Today we are going over a mini scheme from the Singleback Deuce Close formation in Madden 21.
Check it out below!
Playbook: Cincinnati Bengals
Formation: Singleback Deuce Close
Play: Bengals Flood
Setup:
- Put the X/Square receiver on a streak
- Block the running back
Reads:
- Our main target on this play is the Y/Triangle tight end on the deep corner route
- Then look for the B/O receiver on the drag route
- Finally, look for the A/X tight end on the angle route over the middle of the field
Overview: This essentially will be the base play of the formation as you can see in the video the setup is very quick and you can easily catch your opponent off guard. Another important thing about this formation is that you can flip the play to either side and nobody on the offense will move so your opponent cannot tell.
Playbook: Cincinnati Bengals
Formation: Singleback Deuce Close
Play: Bench
Setup:
- None required
Reads:
- This play is going to have a high low read on both sides of the field, so our first read is going to be either tight end in the flats on the short out routes
- Then we are going to progress to either receiver on the corner routes
- If all else fails check down to the running back on the delayed curl out of the backfield
Overview: This is a play that we like to keep in our audible because you can just audible to it and snap the ball without having to make adjustments. This is another way to catch your opponent off guard and gain easy yards.
Playbook: Cincinnati Bengals
Formation: Singleback Deuce Close
Play: HB Stretch
Setup:
- None required
Reads:
- Flip this play to whichever side the defense is weaker on, then follow our blockers
Overview: The HB Stretch from this formation has been notoriously tough to defend. Mix this run in with the HB Wham and it will pretty much be a scheme itself with just two plays. The stretch we can bounce to the outside if blocking permits or even cut it back up the middle.
Playbook: Cincinnati Bengals
Formation: Singleback Deuce Close
Play: HB Wham
Setup:
- None required
Reads:
- Follow the blockers
Overview: The HB Wham is another run play that is difficult to defend in itself. However, when you mix it in with the HB Stretch it becomes really effective. The opponent will move guys outside in order to stop the stretch and that is when wham will be wide open.
Playbook: Cincinnati Bengals
Formation: Singleback Deuce Close
Play: PA X Post Cross (Vs Cover 4)
Setup:
- Block the running back
- Put the A/X tight end on a drag route
- Motion the X/Square receiver out to the left
Reads:
- The main read on the play is the X/Square on the deep post over top the zones
- If that is not there look for the B/O receiver on the crossing route
- Finally, if all else fails check down to the A/X tight end on the drag route
Overview: Here we go over a way to completely bomb a Cover 4 defense in one play in this formation. This is really good to have in our pocket because a lot of people like to use Cover 4 to try to stop run plays and undercenter formations.
Playbook: Cincinnati Bengals
Formation: Singleback Deuce Close
Play: PA X Post Cross (Vs Cover 3)
Setup:
- Block the running back
- Put the B/O receiver on an out route and smart route him
- Put the Y/Triangle tight end on a drag route
- Motion the B/O receiver to the right side of the field
Reads:
- The main read here will be the X/Square receiver on the deep post route
- If that is not there simply check down to the Y/Triangle tight end on the drag
Overview: With this setup we are going to be beating Cover 3 defenses in one play over top. As you see in the video the out route will bring down the cornerback leaving all of the space for the X/Square receiver to run wide open on the post.
Playbook: Cincinnati Bengals
Formation: Singleback Deuce Close
Play: PA Boot Slide
Setup:
- Block the running back
- Put the A/X tight end on a streak
- Put the Y/Triangle tight end on a drag route
- Put the X/Square receiver on an in route and smart route him
Reads:
- The main read here will be the B/O receiver deep on the corner route
- Then look for the Y/Triangle tight end on the drag route
- Next look for the X/Square receiver on the deep in route over the middle
Overview: As shown in the video this play works extremely well against Cover 2 style defenses. Also in this play compared to Bengals Flood we get our receiver on the deep corner route instead of our tight end. This will help confuse the opponent so they cannot key in on certain receivers.
Thank you guys so much for making these videos, but I was wondering, would you guys be willing to make a video on how to get past Tyreek Hill on a vertical route where the defender is close to the WR? Thank You!
