Madden 17 Release Date

EA Sports has confirmed that Madden 17 will be released on Tuesday, August 23rd, 2016.  EA Access subscribers will get to play early as usual.

New Gap Play AI brings a new level of NFL authenticity and strategy to your defensive teammates. Each of your teammates has a gap assignment on run defense that puts them in position to better defend the run. Finally Zone Coverage has been completely overhauled, with the addition of 8 new zone concepts never before seen in Madden.

a game mode like connected franchise that starts in 1980 or so.. soo you can start from there and as you go from year to year the players that you can get in the draft will be the actual players from that year all the way to 2017.. it would be really cool to be able to have old players who aren’t in the league anymore in your connected franchise.

How about FIX the STILL broken code????? I don’t need NEW features. They are used to massage over the broken and buggy code the buyer is left with.

Still have turbo boost players. Everyone does Beckum catches 2-3 times a game. This man does it at most ONCE a year. / 8
Not everyone gets their feet in and make the catch on sideline catches. Pressing “A” on Xbox One should not be automatic.

Across the body pass accuracy and velocity is insane.
Throws deep down the field while dropping back is insane.

Receivers on double moves responding to early throws is a NO NO! There should be TIMING more involved in the passing game.

Four Verticals is way too easy.

Zone coverage still sucks. Deep zones leave their coverage too easily, especially the edge.
User Safeties are SLOW when the console tosses a high deep pass to get over and defend while the console is automatic killing the so called touch pass which usually ends up being a jump ball.

OL needs plenty of work despite the LIE that they fixed it.
Pulling Pro Bowl OL are lost around that corner to go downfield and it makes no sense. Give them goggles instead of defense because they sure need it. They run back into the RB or the make a block not even in the play. And now there is NO edge black from the rear almost ever so some of them become a wasted play.

Pro Bowl OL looking lost in pass protection and allowing a blitzer to run right by them despite them not being engaged in a block.

DL still have a tendency to run TO a blocker or stay on a blocker with almost the DL back now turned to the QB. Get off the block and sack. This makes no sense.

The presentation sucks. You win the Super Bowl and considering all they put into graphics and not game play that is the best they can do with the confetti ???? It is a joke.
Commentators still do not follow the status of the game. Sometimes they mention about running up the score, but the end of the half or game they seem to not have a clue what the score is and what the team should or will be doing.
35-0 with 20 secs…. with the ball and we should hear all they have to do is kneel it out or this should be last snap.
Half time… no clock management comments for people managing it poorly.

Crowd noise does not reflect the play or game enough. Crowd noise needs to be a factor.
More sideline activity and more crowd activity. The crowd needs to reflect the status of the game.
Vary the movies for breaks and timeouts. The same thing is boring.

Injuries.
What is the point of having a reporter if the reporter is going to tell you AFTER you already know.
I get this if this only happens on the opponent side and it is online and your player is hurt.
But offline it makes no sense. It already comes up and tells you the status and you decide. Then the reporter comes up.
This is another Q & A issue they have all the time.

LOS penalties are a joke. I mean they happen instantly when the team lines up. How often do False Starts and Encroachments occur immediately when lined up before the QB even says anything?????????????????????????????

I’d like to see more Ref interaction as well. Many times where the flag was thrown gives an indication of the foul.

Make double moves worth being in the playbook. I can throw curls all game long. Whether man or zone. But after completing so many a double move doesn’t work. What is the point? PA should be more effective too if you are running against the console.
LB and S IMMEDIATELY react to a handoff and after a while begin stuffing the run. Ok. So why when you run a PA off the same run they aren’t still jumping???? Yes the DL might still react to the run for a moment and the LB may too, but the difference is they are NOT as committed as when I actually run and that makes the PA worthless … versus the console. Not sure about OL. Pretty sure it is the same there with the exception of manual coverage. This is why most if not all end arounds do not work and they have no double reverses in the game because good AI would allow these to work within reason. This game will sit and wait for the END run without biting on the runners. SMH

Navigation sucks. No empty playbook to start from makes no sense after how many years now????? It really shouldn’t be that tough to include this. As a matter of fact this should have been the FIRST thing they created.

Audibles that don’t change on you or come up blank when you play?
Audibles are BROKEN. Xbox One. I can’t speak for PS4 or Xbox 360, etc…

Go in ANY 3WR set whether it is shotgun or under center.
Now you can audible IN that formation fine. Try it. No problems.
Audible to ANOTHER formation using whatever audible you have for the new formation. No problems right?
Now audible… from that new formation… one of the other plays you didn’t choose.

This is NOT how it is suppose to work and for over 5 MONTHS EA IGNORED IT WHEN BROUGHT TO THEIR ATTENTION.
It matters for those who play SIM style rather than the arcade hot route adjustments.

The guys interviewing EA need to be brought to task in addressing these bugs during the INTERVIEWS.
“You had a persistent bug with your audible system last year can you show us that it is fixed and reassure it is fixed on ALL SYSTEMS?”

That is what a responsible interviewer will do. Same with all the other issues.
Giving EA FREE FALSE Advertisement needs to stop.
Bet it won’t happen though.

Playbook editor needs an overhaul.
Too many duplicate plays. How many HB Dives that are no different in direction or Receivers blocking or running downfield do we need? I get a variety when there is a difference, but this gets ridiculous.

EA offers NO SORTING METHODS. NONE. Any programmer should know gamers should be able to organize their playbooks as well as the plays IN EACH play formation. This is for those who call their plays rather than use the gameplan suggestion approach.
I don’t know how many people even use gameplan. I don’t because it too is limited because it doesn’t account for game status. Not just down and distance status.

Sorting allows for smoother playcalling as well as using audibles efficiently because you know where they are.
SORTING IS NOT HARD TO ADD!!!

You need MORE QB spy plays across all formations. More on man to man, various zones, blitzes.
One of my favorite things about 2ksports was they had double team defenses built in.
It made for a real chess match audibling in and out of that coverage. Three should be plays built in to cover outs, corners, slants, four verticals. What I mean by that is the play will cover that edge or the inside. All verticals is too easy no matter the formation and it should no be the way. Again… play calling needs to be the key factor here.
The same for QB Sneak or FB Dive. You MUST have plays that stuff those plays for no gain. But at the same time it can’t stop both the FB Dive and the fake FB Dive. See? Chess match. Now you can stop that fake manually, but not sitting there allowing the game to do it all for you. I don’t give out advice without pay, but I’ll give this one. Why not have a play specifically for the those two plays in the goalline package??? You can always audible out of it or into it. Not a guaranteed stopper, but something that will force people to be creative with their play calls.

Do shade coverages even work? I mean from the DB audible you are suppose to be able to do a universal shade in and shade out.
Do they work when the slants are so easily completed with shade in along with drag routes?

I’m all for leading receivers, but again…. the game takes it to the extreme. You can not lead a receiver but so much who is suppose to be running his route NOT looking back. With those routes leading needs to be minimized. As I said you throw early on a double move then you suffer the consequences. The game should NOT suddenly have that WR adjusting to the throw because he can’t see it and is going to run his route. Incompletes are permissible. So are rushed throws resulting INTs.

DBs are NOT that bad on EASY INTs. You know. They jump the route or throw right too him and he drops it, but LBs will catch it.

Tone down the one handed grabs especially in traffic or with contact.
Tone down the aggressive catch where like the Beckum snag it seems to work for everyone. It doesn’t work like that on the field of play.
CB and Safety blitzes untouched seem slow to me in this version.

Packages. Redo this please. There is a lot that can be done with this to make it better it isn’t funny.
Injury substitution. It needs to adjust the GAME TIME Depth chart. Also give me the option of who is to fulfill that role.
I’m not sure this works as it should right now until a person is deemed out of the game.

The clip of the injured player sometimes is just annoying. Rarely are they riding bike. Most of the time they are either sitting and talking with trainers or standing and talking with trainers focused on the area of injury. If a leg injury show them working with his leg. Shoulder? Working his shoulder. Etc… I see more player jogging or stretching than riding the stationary bike. They need to minimize that clip. And players who comeback need to reflect that injury. Limp. Slower. Can’t cut. Hand bandaged DT might not tackle as effectively or shed blocks as easily.

Weather effects what aside from the kick???? Come on. The weather needs to play a factor in the game.
Same with altitude. Some games you ran use players all game, but some games they will require more breaks because of various factors. Throws need to take a hit. Catches in cold or rainy weather need to take a hit. Same with cuts and jukes.
And we stop making every kicker an efficient 50+ yd kicker?????????????

Ok. I’m going to close with one of my most annoying issue. INSTANT REPLAY and HIGHLIGHTS.
Can you have all the players on the field not ghost them in like you are doing now??? This was NOT an issue before so how do you release this game WITH this issue this time????? Oh. I forget. No competition allowed. / 8

I want to see a play from LINING UP to the END of the play and I don’t mean just crossing the goal line being defined as the end.
I want to see the motion involved or formation audible involved in the play. I think it makes for better upload presentations.
Some of the highlighting has gotten better. Where it shows the QB having a rough/good day or the running back having a rough/good day. But there needs to be more. Much more.
Show me some key plays in an important series. Don’t show me a 2 yd TD run, but not the 60 yd run or pass that got them there.
Before the half show us that 2 minute drill. It can be one where they added key points or one where the defense kept points off the board. How about a goal line stance series? We should see the “No once, Not twice, but three times they didn’t get it”. The same with 4th down plays.

I get the end of the game they only show you short clips, but there are times when we should see more or at least have more available to us. Safeties should be an automatic highlight saved. Sacks as well. 2 min drill should automatic saved as well as overtime.

Believe it or not this is my small list. I didn’t get as deep into game play as I could. That would double or triple this post.
We are consumers. It is time we demand this monopoly deliver on its promise and advertisement or give up the license.
It is not just about, “don’t like the game don’t buy it.” We aren’t talking about choosing a chevy versus ford.
There is only ONE NFL game. They chose to go that route and so the demand needs to be on that the product match the hype or OPEN up the license for others who can.

Very good points. Also assigning defensive players to a specific offensive player. They had that in the past, but did away with it like most of their good features.

Bring back Legend play books, Vince Lombardi playbook was my offense! Fix it though in Madden 15 the Packer Sweep had the TE to close. I know a lot of people that loved the Tom Landry Playbook and we all had to completely change! Bring back the legend playbooks with the new features and rules. I would love to run the Sweep with new blocking mechanics. If I knew Madden 16 wasn’t going to have the legend playbooks I wouldn’t have bought it. Please bring that back, I always do a online franchise with tons of friends and family and I need my playbook back! Thanks Madden! -support me on this guys

I also think an incredible addition to Franchise mode would being able to start your career as a player then retiring and with the same character become a coach or owner and same from coach to owner. Also being allowed to hire yourself as the Head Coach when your the owner.

I have a few comments for improvements. First, why is there a software issue from madden 15 still affecting madden 16? The infamous loading of the main menu page on CFM connected franchise and all you get is a spinning football and the game freezes. Do they even test these games before they release them? Second, the ridiculous catches every game all game long have to stop. How about instead of making a certain position god mode each year they just make an all around realistic game? Madden 15 was non stop sacks and picks. Madden 16, OBJ catches every other play. Really? Third, why can’t I save formation substitutions under my manage team page? Why do I have to do these every game and hope I don’t get a delay of game penalty? Fourth, earned XP points for offline CFM are useless. You can not develop anyone over 25 years old. Fifth, I would like to see a difficulty setting between all-pro and all-madden. This one explains itself. Sixth, home field advantage needs to play a bigger role in how teams play. At this point home field in the playoffs means nothing to me. Seventh, good offense lineman need to be better and bad ones need to be worse. Eighth, why does everything have to be so different in online CFM mode playing the CPU vs playing another player? I kick like an idiot playing a real person because the lag is so bad online. Ninth, money plays are just too money. I mean I-strong tight HB toss is just a gimme 10-20+ yard run every time. Shotgun 5WR empty stick and 4 verts beats the CPU all day. I’m tired of scoring 90+ points a game and almost no slider adjustment left. (Even though I shouldn’t have to design the slider settings for EA). Finally, the tenth thing (for now), I already talked about reducing the OBJ catches but what is the CB covering the receiver even doing out there? They look like high school kids trying to compete against Deandre Hopkins. Make em earn it. Also, throwing to the corner route is just not coverable???? Then if you CB gets a pick it’s usually an OBJ catch but god forbid they catch that lollipop throw to the flat that hits them in both hands. I understand the CB’s and safeties should have low catch ratings they drop them in real games all the time. But I think if in a real game Vince wilfork was covering the flat and had that opportunity he would catch it. These are my top 10 issues. The first one obviously a huge issue as it is all over the Internet, and the unrealistic crazy catches every game as well. Come on EA. Give us a game we deserve

I wish they would expand the roster size to at least 80-85 and make the cuts more realistic. week 1- 85 down to 80 week 2- 80 down to 70 week 3- 70 down to 60 week 4- 60 down to the final 53. also LET US HAVE PRACTICE SQUAD!!!!!! and let the pro bowl be playable. add the Hall of Fame game to franchise. also give the option to start a franchise from last years offseason. like im a Steelers fan and I didn’t really like our draft or FA moves so why cant I start from the beginning of the offseason?
