Playbook: Seattle Seahawks
Formation: Gun Split Hawk
Play: Z Spot
Setup:
- (Optional) Block your tight end in the backfield
- (Optional) Put your B/circle receiver on a drag route
- Motion your running back out to the left
Reads:
- Against man to man defense, look to your running back on the wheel route
- Your X/square receiver on the deeper slant should be open as well
- If it is a zone defense, look to your B/circle receiver underneath
Overview: This play absolutely destroys any man to man defense.
Playbook: Seattle Seahawks
Formation: Gun Split Hawk
Play: Z Spot (Version 2)
Setup:
- Hot route your tight end to a wheel route
- Hot route your B/circle receiver to a drag route
Reads:
- Your first read is always to your running back on the left side of the screen. You should be able to tell whether the defense is in man or zone coverage pretty quickly after the snap
- If he is in man to man coverage, throw to your running back
- If he is in zone coverage, throw to your RB/R1 tight end coming out of the backfield
- If both are covered, look to your outside receivers on the slant and the drag route
Overview: If you make the right reads, this play truly cannot be stopped. Practice it up and get comfortable with it.
Playbook: Seattle Seahawks
Formation: Gun Split Hawk
Play: Z Spot (Against Cover 3)
Setup:
- Same as all the other setups for this play
Reads:
- Against a cover 3 with purple zones, you can still hit that running back on the wheel route
- The tight end on the wheel should also be open as well as the other receivers
Overview: This is just a little extra information for cover 3 with purple zones.
Playbook: Seattle Seahawks
Formation: Gun Split Hawk
Play: HB Cross Buck
Setup:
- Motion the tight end to the left
Overview: This is a very effective running play that is even better when your opponent is worried about the Z Spot play.
Playbook: Seattle Seahawks
Formation: Gun Split Hawk
Play: HB Slip Screen
Setup:
- Motion your tight end to the left
Reads:
- You are looking to your running back on the screen
Overview: This play will only work against zone defenses. It is just another play to mix in to confuse your opponent.
Playbook: Seattle Seahawks
Formation: Gun Split Hawk
Play: Slot Post
Setup:
- Put your X/square receiver on a streak route
- Motion your running back to the left
- Hot route your other players however you would like
Reads:
- Your opponent should be worried about the sidelines at this point so we will hit them back over the middle.
Overview: This is another play to only run every now and then. It is a nice specialty play but you should spend most of your time in the Z Spot play.
Where can I find these plays in custom play books?
The custom playbook names should be listed on the first page of the ebook.
This is my favorite upgrade from last year. Adding the custom playbook names is great.
Madden School, regarding the (Z Spot) Have you tried motioning the TE out of the backfield to the left of the formation as well?
Haven’t tried it. Is doing it that way something that is working well for you?
(Z spot) it has worked for me on certain occasions by motioning the TE instead of the HB… I still hit the HB on the wheel against most zone coverage. I put the TE (motioned left) on a slant route or a put him on quick hitch and like you I put the B receiver on a drag across the field and keep everything else the same. Works good with the screen and HB cut plays.
Is anyone else have a problem with putting anyone in a pass block ? I play on ps4 and i can hit r2 and nothing happens, from tight ends to full backs to halfbacks
Yes, I am having that same problem. I thought my controller was broken but I can still sprint with my R2 button so I know its not my controller. Anyone fix this problem?
For me i hot the rs but hard and it seems to go threw when i tap it nothing happens
This is my first ever E-book that I’ve purchased. Definitely worth the money, all the videos are simple and too the point. Thanks a lot guys, I appreciate the work you put into this. If you ever need freelance design work contact me, I’d be happy to help out 🙂
Thanks Dan! I will shoot an email over your way.
A speedy TE on a wheel to the left is just as money as an RB, and it disguises the run as well. This is a full on great scheme!
That PA F Slide is deadly. Will beat man or zone every play.
